Our local tradespeople understand how powerful the heat can get during the summer months. Our goal is to ensure your home comfort by providing you with efficient, reliable heating and cooling options. We’ll work with you to understand your needs and budget, and help you find the best solution for your family’s needs.
Our NATE-certified technicians can assist with both AC replacement and installation. Whether you’re looking to add ductless mini-splits to cool an extension or replace an aging AC unit, we can assist you. Our team is trained to work with central air conditioning units, heat pumps, and ductless systems, giving you the flexibility to choose the best system for your home when AC repair is no longer viable or financially worth it.
As part of our service, we’ll help you select the right size and power of HVAC unit for your needs. Right-sizing your HVAC system helps save energy and prolong the lifespan of your system. Many people don’t realize that choosing a unit that’s too powerful could actually waste energy and mean your home never reaches a comfortable temperature. Short cycling, where the HVAC unit turns on and off frequently, can damage the unit. Conversely, an underpowered unit would need to run for a long time, which also wastes energy.
Our technicians will consider the size of your home, how much light each room gets, and how well insulated it is. Based on those factors and your budget, they’ll help you find a heating and cooling solution that matches your household’s needs.
A new AC unit could be a good choice if you experience any of these issues:
- Frequent breakdowns
- Poor AC performance even after a tune-up
- Your existing AC unit is more than 15 years old
- You want to add cooling to a space without running ductwork
AC Replacement Costs
The cost of replacing an AC unit depends on the size of your home and how much work needs to be done. If you’re keeping existing ductwork and simply replacing the central air unit, this would cost less than having to redo all the ducts as well. The SEER rating (efficiency) and size of the unit also have an impact on the cost.
In general, you can expect a new AC unit to cost between $5,000 and $12,000, although prices outside that range are possible depending on the type of property and complexity of the job. At Summit Heating, A/C, Plumbing & Electrical, we have flexible finance plans available on approved credit to help homeowners budget for the cost of installing a new air conditioning system.
AC Installation Process
If you choose to purchase a new AC unit from Summit Heating, A/C, Plumbing & Electrical, the first thing we’ll do is assess the property to help you choose an AC with the proper tonnage and SEER rating. We’ll then inspect your ductwork to determine whether we can connect the unit to it or if any modifications are needed. If you’ve chosen a ductless system instead, we’ll look at where to place the unit and the vents for maximum convenience, space-savings, and performance.
Our technicians will power off and remove your existing HVAC unit, taking care to recover the refrigerants safely and disconnect the electrical systems. Once the existing unit has been removed, we can start the process of installing the new one. This is a multi-step process, involving installing a condenser unit and ductwork or air handling units, setting the refrigerant lines, and connecting the new system to your electrical circuits.
Throughout the process, you can depend on our technicians to work carefully and attentively. They’ll be respectful at all times and be as neat and clean as possible, including laying down protective sheeting if they need to do any potentially dusty work in your home. Once the installation process is completed, they’ll test the unit. They’ll also provide you with instructions on how to set it up and how to take advantage of any new smart or energy-saving features. You’ll then have the opportunity to inspect it yourself and sign off on a job well done.
